Signing up

The first step to publishing your resume on and looking for jobs is to create an account. This initial sign up stage can be quite quick, but remember that you will have to create a resume from scratch to make your account worthwhile which could take a few hours (if you want to do it properly). Here are some steps for signing up:

  • Click on the link that says “Join us” at the top of the screen towards the right. This will take you to a form that you will have to fill in.

  • There are several fields that you will now have to fill in. The first field is your email address. Your email address is needed so that you will be able to access your account if you ever forget your password.
  • Next you will have to choose a password. On your password needs to be 8-20 characters long. It must have at least one letter, and at least one symbol or number. Remember that the password you choose should be something that is easy for you to remember. At the same time it should also be something that other people will not easily be able to guess. Think about this carefully.
  • Then fill in your first name, your last name, your location, and the highest level of education that you have.
  • Click the box which says “I have read, and I accept, Monster’s terms of use and privacy policy”. It is wise to actually read the terms and conditions before committing to anything. Always know what you are signing up for.
  • Once you have done all of that, click “Join” to start job searching.

Logging in

Once you have created your account you will have to log into the website to start job searching.

  • There is a “Sign in” option that is located near the top of the screen towards the right hand side on the homepage. Click on that.
  • Enter the email address and password that you specified during the sign up process into the window that then appears.
  • If you have forgotten your password, click on the appropriate link and an email will be sent to the email address you linked with the account with further instructions.

  • Think of a title for your resume that is relevant. Write this in the “Resume Basics” box.
  • Decide what kind of privacy settings you want on your resume. For example, should it be publicly viewable, or should your permission be asked if someone wants to know more about your resume?
  • Next fill in the “Work Experience” box with as much detail as possible. Include all work experience, the years you worked there, the company name, your employer, and your position.
  • Fill in all education and training in the “Education” box. Include everything such as school names and training received.
  • You will then have to specify your job options. Be as specific as possible as this will make it more likely that you will receive notifications about the jobs that you actually want to do. This information is provided in the “Target Job” box.
  • Fill in information about your “Work Status”.
  • Click “Update Account”.

Upload your resume

You also have the option of uploading an existing resume. You will have to fill in the job type and location you would prefer. Click “Browse” to find your resume on your computer, and then click on “Save resume” for the upload to go through.

In the resume box you will also be given the option to copy and paste your entire resume. Please note that building your resume on the site is considered the best option.
